LOCAL ACTIVE MEMBERSHIP
Qualifications to attain Local Active Membership are the following:
Qualifications to attain Local Active Membership are the following:
- An interest in health care!
- Obtain at least 2 social points, 1 fundraising point, 1 publicity point, and 1 volunteer point (about 4 hours of volunteering) with AED per quarter.
- Attend at least 3 out of 4 general body meetings each quarter. If you cannot attend a GBM due to class or illness, please e-mail us at ucsd.aed@gmail.com or Secretary Neha Katragadda at nkatraga@ucsd.edu at least 24 HOURS BEFORE THE GBM so there is record! (No exceptions.)
- A small fee paid to AED as local chapter membership fee. It will be $35 for the whole year if you join in the fall or $15 per quarter if you join in winter or spring.
NATIONAL MEMBERSHIP
National Membership requires all the qualifications of Local Active Membership with the addition of these few:

National Membership requires all the qualifications of Local Active Membership with the addition of these few:
- Potential members must have completed at least 5 quarters of health preprofessional studies work with an overall cumulative GPA of at least 3.20 and also with a cumulative GPA of 3.20 in the sciences – biology, chemistry, physics, and mathematics.
- Potential members who meet the GPA and are transferring from one school to one with an active chapter will be eligible for membership after the completion of 2 quarters at UCSD. The grade point averages used to determine scholastic eligibility at the new school will be determined by averaging all grades from both old and new schools.
- A fee paid to the National AED Office.
Benefits of National Membership:
- Priority to all events, HHAB trips, officer positions, opportunity to be a Big, do not need to pay Local Active Membership fees, exclusive sweatshirt, official recognition from the Alpha Epsilon Delta National Office, potential scholarship opportunities, discounts for test prep
